Mission Statement
We seek to glorify God through declaring His Word and making mature disciples for the everlasting joy of all peoples.
Our mission statement has four parts that we believe summarize the mission of the church given to us in the Bible.
- We seek to glorify God: Our church seeks to glorify God because it is the ultimate end of all things. Creation is declaring the glory of God (Psalm 19:1). Our individual salvation is declaring the glory of God. Our salvation is to the praise of His glory (Ephesians 1:3-14), and our church should primarily be putting the glory of God on display.
- Through declaring His Word: We most clearly and powerfully glorify God as we declare His Word. The Bible is God’s self-revelation of who He is. We see God’s general revelation of His glory in creation, but we see it specifically in His revealed Word. Therefore, the foremost thing that we do as a church is to declare what God has said in His Scriptures.
- And making mature disciples: Our goal as a church is to present every man and woman complete, or mature, in Christ. This was Paul’s goal (Colossians 1:28-29) and we want this to be our goal as well.
- For the everlasting joy of all peoples: We want to hold out true joy to the world, joy that can only be found in Christ. This is the only joy that can satisfy all peoples and it is the only joy that can last forever.
Pillars of the Church
In the Scriptures we see that God has given us, His people, means that help us accomplish His mission. The means that He has given us we call pillars, because they help to hold up the mission of the church and make it possible. Six of the pillars that God has given His church are:
- Expositional Preaching – Our mission is to declare the Word of God and we are committed to doing that faithfully. By preaching expositionally we will aim to make the main point of a passage the main point of the sermon. Ultimately, our greatest need is to hear the Word of God and have it speak into our hearts and lives
- Discipleship – In Matthew 28 Jesus gave us our mission. To go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to observe all that Christ commanded. We have designed the structure of our church to accomplish the mission of teaching the full counsel of God’s Word for the maturing of disciples.
- Evangelism – The church is meant to display the glory of God, to be a city set on a hill. Our communities should recognize and see the beauty of the Lord Jesus Christ through us. We are to display the manifold wisdom of God (Ephesians 3:10). We seek to display Christ through our personal evangelism and through our hospitality.
- Missions – As a church we understand that our mission is global in scope. We desire to see people from every tribe, tongue, language and nation come to know Jesus as Lord. Therefore, we place a heavy emphasis on God’s global purposes in the world and we seek to send as many people as possible to the nations.
- Church Planting – In the Scriptures we see that the gospel primarily goes forward through the planting of churches. Lord willing, we will see many pastors raised up and sent out for the planting of other gospel preaching, Bible believing churches.
- Membership – God has called Christians to assemble together in local churches. As Christ’s body and bride we have a high calling to commit to one another and join together to be on mission. God does not call us to live out the christian life in isolation but he is forming a people, in the church, to do it together.
